This emergency key fits snugly inside compatible smartkey remotes for select Ford and Lincoln models. Emergency keys are a preventive measure against potential lock-out situations and can be released from the remote with a simple pull of the release latch. These keys do not require any special programming. 
 
The item pictured has a high security key blade, a special type of blade that is cut down the center of the key rather than the edges. Cutting this key will require a unique key machine, typically managed by locksmiths. Most hardware stores do not offer a high security key cutting service.
